Can’t remember name of sea-faring adventure movie from before 1990.

All I remember is a scene where they are fighting on their ship when a ghostly litter (hand carried carriage) flies out of the sky, lands on the ship, and a ghostly figure waves these fuming black flowers in a woman’s face causing her to fall asleep. She is loaded into the carriage and then it takes off into the sky spiriting her away from the ship.
