Please help name this 90’s style British film

0

A British film which had to have been released 2011 or just before (could have even been a late 90s film actually). Was either set in Ireland or Edinburgh. Involved a love triangle between two friends I think and a guy who played in an Irish band. I remember two of the characters were practising for a synchronised swimming act at the Edinburgh festival possibly. It seemed to be at least set in the 90s as i remember that they lived in a 90s style arty flat. I also remember one scene where the musician and his girlfriend’s friend get drunk in an underground bar where Portishead is playing and then I think the sleep with each other. At the end of the film the friend has a baby and it’s suggested it’s his. I have spent years trying to find this film.

No, this isn’t it either but thanks again. I don’t know why the film is so painfully difficult to find. I can’t remember an actual festival featuring much, if at all, in the film. It was just referenced by the sisters/friends who wanted to do a synchronised swimming act. I remember most of the friends having dark hair. You’d think that an Irish/Scottish comedy with two girls wanting to do a synchronised swimming act and a love triangle would narrow it down but none of my searches generate any films which mention synchronised swimming.

Splendor (an american film from 99) has a drummer, music journalist, and a girl in a romance film. Portishead had a song in it too.

Thank you but that’s not the film. I definitely remember the characters having either Irish or Scottish accents. I struggled to distinguish between the two when I was younger! I think the musician also played a fiddle.

I am digging specific to edinburgh, now, because portishead just wasn’t finding it for me. I saw your old post on the other forum, but none of those possibilities were it either?

Oh. I totally lost the old post and was gutted. I’d forgotten which site I’d used and never saw any comments. Is there any link to that post or has it shut down?

Wow! Thanks so much for this. I’ve just checked through all suggestions and none match unfortunately. I actually looked through all Irish and Scottish films on wikipedia from that time period and still couldn’t find it. I think I’m gonna have to give up on this one as it seems lost in oblivion which is a shame as it was such a good film! Thanks for all your help!
