Foreign language film, the film starts with a man hanging welcome signs on a hut in the middle of nowhere. A bus arrives, out steps a man who is taken to a city, to a wife and new house and is given a job. Soon he discovers that no one has feelings, sex is emotionless, food has no taste. He discovers a fellow citizen with the same questions. With his new friend they dig a tunnel that leads to another world, guided by the smell of a kitchen, and cake. The smells causes suspicion and they are found out and arrested. The main character who has been repeatedly warned to “fit in” is put back on the bus and banished to a blizzard ravaged land
